Philosophy of Care
Dr. Frank L. Fazzalari believes in patient-focused care and works to treat each person like he would want his own family to be treated. With his extensive knowledge of adult cardiovascular surgical procedures, he is confident in his skill set to provide effective surgical care. Dr. Fazzalari knows that surgery, particularly heart surgery, can be an intimidating experience, so he strives to make his patients understand each and every step so that they are comfortable with the process and the decisions that they are making.
Dr. Fazzalari has a rich history in education of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He established the Heart Program for the University of Michigan at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester, MI. He served as a partner and vice president of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Associates and as attending cardiothoracic surgeon at the Heart Institute at Memorial Medical Center and St. Francis Hospital Heart Center in Greenville, South Carolina. He was an instructor in cardiothoracic surgery, heart failure, mechanical assist devices and cardiac transplantation at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center as well as Visiting Attending Faculty in Cardiothoracic Surgery at ISMETT Hospital UMPC, Italy where he was instrumental in the development and training of a new heart program.
Dr. Fazzalari is an expert in all aspects of adult cardiovascular surgery as well as thoracic surgery. He has published articles and book chapters. He serves on the Michigan Society of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery mortality review committee. He is an expert in critical care medicine, heart and lung failure and medical devices. He is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons and a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, The Frederick A. Coller Surgical Society, and The Harvard Club of New York. Dr. Fazzalari is board certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery and holds a medical license in four states.
