About the Provider

Philosophy of Care

Dr. Aaron Maddox prides himself in taking the time to know every one of his patients personally. He believes a physician’s role is not only to diagnose and treat patients, but to also educate them and help them reach decisions about their health in a supportive manner. Dr. Maddox understands it also takes a partnership where the patient works with the physician in this healing process and that the best physical healing requires a strong spiritual component.

Background

Dr. Maddox’s sister was born with multiple birth defects which kept him around the hospital as she went through numerous surgeries and procedures. It was that exposure at the age of 7, along with his mother that was the first Afro-American laboratory technician at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, that inspired his lifelong ambition to be a doctor. Dr. Maddox completed his internship and residency at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit where he met the love of his life, Marilyn. Dr. Maddox attempts to be a role model for all of the things that he professes to his patients. He strives to have eternal patience with those that he encourages to heal and curb bad habits such as smoking. He doesn’t get discouraged with short term failures and understands that moving people in a healthier direction can take time. As an internist, he has numerous opportunities to steer a person in the right direction and over time will usually win. Dr. Maddox is the Minister of Health for his church Oasis of Hope and performs speaking engagements for churches, as well as health seminars. When Dr. Maddox is not treating his patients, he enjoys spending time with his family, two sons, and five grandchildren, that he entertains and exposes to educational events and exciting journeys.
