Philosophy of Care

Ashley Barnes is sensitive to the unique needs and goals of each individual patient. She believes that developing an open and caring patient/provider relationship yields optimal case outcomes. Ashley encourages every patient to take an active role in their care and works closely with Orthopedic Surgeons to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Ashley is originally from Traverse City, Michigan. After completing her undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, she moved to the Metro-Detroit area and worked in marketing. She gained professional experience in the workforce but wanted to be more involved in patient care. Inspired by her father, who is also a Physician Assistant, Ashley decided to make a career change. Ashley earned her Physician Assistant Degree locally at the University of Detroit Mercy where she had the opportunity to complete multiple clinical rotations in various specialties including pediatric medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, women’s health, surgery, emergency medicine, psychiatry, and interventional cardiology. Before joining DMC Medical Group, Ashley was a Patient Care Technician at Ascension Providence Hospital (Formerly St John Providence Hospital) in Southfield, Michigan. In her spare time, she enjoys running, paddle boarding, softball, Detroit sports, volunteering and spending time with family and friends.
