Philosophy of Care:

Dr. Farnaz Abhari believes in a patient-centered medical home, where her office is the center that gathers all medical information and facilitates partnerships between her patients and their specialist. She goes to great lengths to make sure everyone works together to meet a patient’s healthcare needs. Dr. Abhari feels a physician’s role is not only to diagnose and treat patients but to also educate them and help them reach decisions about their health in a supportive manner. She uses her knowledge and experience to discuss her patients’ health, and she explains individualized treatment options, along with possible risk factors and benefits, so that her patients are empowered to make informed decisions.

Background:

Dr. Abhari began practicing in the Detroit Metropolitan area as an Internist in 1999. She attended medical school in Turkey. Dr. Abhari completed her residency training at St. John Providence Hospital and Medical Center in Southfield, MI. In addition to English, Dr. Abhari is fluent in Farsi and Turkish. When she is not treating patients Dr. Abhari enjoys traveling to other countries, meeting new people and spending time with her family.

“Living in 3 countries and my exposure to diverse cultures has taught me how different and beautiful people are. I’ve learned to become non-judgmental and open to ideas and believes, even when they are not the same as mine. In order to provide the best possible patient care, I actively collaborate with my patients and treat them with dignity and respect as I discuss their treatment options.”
