Philosophy Of Care
Dr. Leila Ettefagh is passionate about building strong relationships with her patients. She understands that educating each patient about their disease, diagnosis, and treatment options will encourage them to participate in their care and healing process actively. Dr. Ettefagh believes that providing conservative approaches, combined with appropriate complex medical and physical treatments, leads to better outcomes.
Dr. Ettefagh’s love towards medicine dates back to when she was a child and played doctor. She treated her dolls with medical instruments, all while wearing a little white lab coat. From that point on, Leila knew that she wanted to be a doctor and have the opportunity to heal her patients. Dr. Ettefagh attended Tehran University of Medical Sciences, School of Medicine in Tehran, Iran, and received her medical degree in 2002. She then completed a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency and received her board certification by the Iranian Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2007. After her immigration to the United States in 2012 and passing all the required boards exams, she started her internship in transitional year and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Because it was her second go-around, she has been able to utilize her second residency as an opportunity to improve and integrate her clinical knowledge and skills. As time goes by, she has come to understand that working in the field of rehabilitation is where her passion resides. When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Ettefagh enjoys horseback riding, traveling, going to the movies and spending time with her children when they are home from college exercising, reading books, meditation, traveling, and socializing with friends.
