“I like to help individuals with foot and ankle problems so that they can get back to doing the activities that they enjoy. I listen to my patient’s concerns and take a collaborative approach to treatment. As a physician, having the privilege to serve and provide the best results is what every patient deserves.”
In the field of medicine, some physicians become generalists – offering a broad spectrum of services to patients with a wide array of medical conditions. Dr. Richard L. Needleman chose the path of becoming a specialist and believes he can best serve patients by delivering expert, high-quality healthcare. He became a foot & ankle specialist at a time when there were few orthopedic sub-specialists. Dr. Needleman felt that patients deserved the high-level of care that sub-specialists provide. He believes patients appreciate knowing what is wrong, what they can do to help themselves and how they can work together. As a physician, he enjoys being involved in their treatment.
Dr. Needleman grew up in New England and received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan. He has always cared about people and has a passion for helping others. At an early age, he believed doctors to be good people and sought to follow this pathway in choosing his career. Dr. Needleman first participated in team sports including baseball, football, rugby and softball, followed by individual sports in karate and running. He now enjoys participating in yoga, pilates, walking and biking. Dr. Needleman and his wife have two children. Raising a family also gave him the opportunity of coaching baseball and soccer. Their oldest currently is training to be an Emergency Room Physician and their youngest has an MBA and works in Marketing/Brand Management.
