Philosophy of Care:
Dr. Tyler Williamson believes in listening to the concerns of his patients and working together with the patient to form a personalized plan that improves the quality of life. Much of this process involves the discussion of anatomy, function, and injury. This relationship is based on two-way communication and trust between the patient and Dr. Williamson. When that is established, we can implement a health care plan that fits into their lifestyle and promotes healing.
Dr. Williamson grew up in California but moved across the country to Boston. He attended
Northeastern University for his undergraduate studies. During this time in Boston, he was
introduced to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation while providing daily care of a quadriplegic. He received his medical education at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Williamson and his wife moved to Detroit for his residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and found the area to be a fantastic location to live.
Dr. Williamson has always been involved in sports and athletic pursuits, including rowing, rugby, and running. His sports background gives him a unique view of the process of training for health improvements and maximizing the body’s ability to recover. In his spare time, Dr. Williamson enjoys spending time with family, baking bread, and playing video games.
